About Me My name is Hailey Case and I am a senior majoring in Strategic Communications with a concentration in marketing. This will be my second year at K-State, I transferred in the Fall of 2021 from Fort Hays State University. While at Fort Hays, I studied Communications Studies for three years before deciding to change my education path.
I am originally from Leoti, Kansas. Leoti is a small town, with around 1,300 people living there. My dad was a chiropractor a couple of towns over for 15 years before deciding to close shop to help his dad farm. Now, my family is organic corn and wheat farmers. Growing up, I had a lot of different experiences that lead me to where I am now.
JNT and EMPOWER
This summer I had the pleasure of interning for JNT Company here in Manhattan. JNT is an advertising agency that specializes in web development, development, and marketing solutions. Their EMPOWER internship is what I took a part in, along with seven other peers. This was a five-week-long internship, that began May 23 and ended June 24. The main project for the EMPOWER internship is working with a client to build them a site through Merlin. This year was a little different, we were given clients who have had sites from JNT in the past, they only needed a refresh. Parker Stephens, Claire Clark, and I were assigned Library Liquor. My role for the project was 'content manager', Claire was 'project lead', and Parker was the 'client liaison. Though we had specific roles, we worked evenly throughout the project. Library Liquor
This project began with a meeting with John to go over his original site and to talk over the possibilities for the new site. We walked through templates and features that we could implement, and we also expressed interest in taking updated photos to be utilized on the site. For the next four weeks, we worked on the new site, figuring out the ins and outs of Merlin. Progress seemed slow at times, but we completed the site before our Mock presentation. Just in time for critiques and final touch-ups. Wednesday, July 23, my team presented our website to John. We prepared a presentation with additional marketing suggestions, tools, and social media best practices. John had minor rewording for us to fix, but was very happy with the overall results of his new site. One suggestion my team made was adding a drink calculator to the "Events & Parties" page. We suggested this to enhance the user experience and to offer an additional benefit to using the site. John loved this idea and is working with the JNT developers to make the calculator a reality. The website will go live after July 1st and can be seen here. JNT JAVA Case Study
This was the first time JNT implemented a case study, and this year it was based on a fictional coffee shop called JNT JAVA. This fictional coffee shop is originally from Junction City and they were looking to expand to Manhattan. Our job was to come up with a website proposal, brand strategy, social media strategy, and any other offering we thought would benefit them in a new market. Taylor, Claire, Nicole, Madi, Parker, and I worked on this together. This project proved difficult, especially since we were new to JNT and what they offer. After presenting our proposal, we were met with critiques, feedback, and encouragement. This was a project full of creative freedom and offered us all a great experience of what a real project of this size would entail. Fun
Most memories were made during our outings. We got to enjoy lunch and conversation with JNT's clients and learn about various companies in Manhattan. Being able to network and have fun proved valuable to us all. The team bonding built solid friendships between us all. I can say the most valuable thing I am walking away with from this internship is the connections made. I am thankful for the team I was blessed with the last five weeks.
